Michelle Lokot is an independent consultant, humanitarian practitioner and researcher with over 18 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and gender-based violence (GBV). She supports NGOs and UN agencies in using feminist and decolonial approaches, and teaches on sexual violence and on decolonial and participatory approaches to M&E and research. Michelle was Co-Director of the Health in Humanitarian Crises Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2022–2025), where she led research on the unintended consequences of GBV programmes, decolonising GBV, and power dynamics in working with refugees. Prior to her PhD, Michelle was a humanitarian practitioner working in Jordan, Nigeria and Burundi, providing technical advice and managing GBV prevention and response programmes.
